Surprise Powder Day!

After a late night out and an early wake up call for work, we were surprised to find new snow in the morning. The mountain had received 12 inches overnight.

I was scheduled to work from 7:45 to 5:00 with a ride break. I lucked out. Joey gave everybody a half day ride break. Mine was in the morning from 9:00 to 12:30.

The snow was incredible light. It was so light that we were hitting the hard snow base pretty frequently. I've been riding hard over the last few days and was feeling pretty worn out from the beginning today. I was on my big skis so I really had to work to stay on top of them.

I've had a really good group of people to ride with lately. Pretty much everyone charges. I've been riding with my co-workers Jacki, Alex, Will, and Jake. I've also been riding with Caroline, Mike, Brandon, and a guy named Chris who is ridiculously good. He's just visiting Jackson, but he's been a lot of fun to ride with and makes me push myself.

I've been noticing that I'm getting a lot better at skiing. I'm feeling more and more confident charging the steeper terrain. I still need to work on my confidence to hit drops, but I think I'm getting closer to that point.

Dana is still in the process of recovering from her MCL tear but will be able to start skiing easy trails again on Tuesday. I haven't been on a snowboard in at least 6 years, so I think I might give that a try and ride with her. I think she's excited to get back out.
