In Loving Memory of Sarah Burke

I only met her a couple times, but she was always a genuinely nice person and an incredible athlete. Ian, Slim, and I hung out with her on a couple occasions in Burlington... cooking macaroni and cheese with hot dogs (her request), a dance party at RedSquare, and late-night pizza at Mr. Mikes. Fun college memories.

Sarah was an inspiration for many...

It's been a couple weeks since I've posted anything, looks like I have some catching up to do since the new year... did a couple tours in Hatcher Pass and a trip to Alyeska for some nighttime powder skiing. Photos and more will be posted soon...

sick. got in bed at 6:30 last night. didn't get out until almost 8:30 this morning. to top it off it was a snow blizzard on my way home from work and my windshield wipers weren't working. ugh.

Definitely a white Christmas in Alaska. Spent yesterday wrapping gifts, decorating the tree, and relaxing at home. First time spending it with the family in four years.

Bioluminescent Surfing

A strong red tide along the San Diego County coastline this fall caused a neon blue bioluminescence. It's visible at night as tiny light-producing organisms get stirred up as the waves break. Would have been amazing to see.

I've only ever seen marine bioluminescence once, while on a sea kayaking trip in Prince William Sound. It was more of a green color, and nowhere near this intense. I'd like to see it again...

Spent the day at Alyeska with my dad. Snowing pretty hard most of the day so the visibility was poor, but it was fun nonetheless. Hadn't been there since before moving to Jackson. Definitely early season conditions, but we're off to a good start!
